Did I Mention I Love You

"I really wish you hadn't said sorry for it.
Because apologizing means regretting."
The first thing you should probably know about this book is that it’s a Wattpad sensation... Their words not mine. The second thing you should know is that giving this three stars was generous. And the third thing you should know is that if you want a super typical young adult book then you should add this to your TBR. One mistake I made was that I went into this book thinking it was New Adult. I quickly realized how wrong I was when the main character was 16 and complained about EVERY PART OF HER LIFE. Girl let me tell you, it doesn’t get better with age. So yeah, I don’t know why I was under the impression this was New Adult but I did. Don’t get me wrong I love a good YA Romance but this was just something else. I had so many problems with this book and the characters that I only pushed through because your girl paid thirteen dollars for it on amazon. I mean I did read through it pretty fast and I feel like if the author had taken this exact plot and switched from YA to NA it could have been a lot better. Also this is part of a series so for all I know it could get better with time, but my TBR pile is to large to put any effort into finishing this series.
So sixteen year old Eden Munro agrees to spend the summer with her father who she hasn’t seen since he left her and her mother three years prior. Eden has no idea what she’s getting herself in to, especially now that her father has a brand new family. She’s about to meet three new step-brothers, one being the troubled teenager Tyler Bruce who is more trouble then good. Eden quickly realizes they are complete opposites and finds herself thrown for a ride as Tyler’s group of friends take her under their wing, but the more she presses to find out the truth about Tyler the more she finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn’t - her step-brother.
So I went into this super excited for an angsty forbidden romance. I found this recommendation on youtube from a fellow booktuber and she said nothing about ages so I just hopped my butt over to amazon and purchased this blindly. That will be the last time I do that, because this book was not worth the thirteen dollars I paid for it. Now I understand Eden is sixteen, but I felt like she was way to naive for even sixteen. One thing I could not stand was that she kept complaining about not wanting to go to parties or hang out with certain people, but she never said no and just hopped on board! Then as soon as she would get somewhere, guess what? She’d spend the whole time complaining! I honestly could not get over Eden as a character. She was whiny, she was dramatic, she was in love in five seconds, and she felt so....... flimsy? I don’t know. She felt like a hypocrite. So jumping to the main part of the story, Tyler and Eden’s relationship. I was prepared for this bad ass moody male but the first scene he’s in had me asking myself if this was really the guy we were supposed to pine and swoon for. The man literally screamed about slaughtering animals and then proceeded to stomp up the stairs like a diva. I mean I’m all about trying to be as meatless and dairy free as possible, but I just found that so weird!! Him and Eden had NO connection whatsoever. She was already like in love him from the moment she saw him, and he was so troubled that all he could do was moan and moan and moan about his horrible life. Like dude, you’re driving an Audi?! Ok.. I mean I’d gladly trade my Honda in for an Audi, and let me tell you - you’d barely hear me complain about my life! So Eden is literally a side chick to her step-brother for 98% of the book because oh yeah, he has a girlfriend. The friends were all so fake and I felt like Eden was one type of person at the beginning of this book and then chapter four she’s turned into Jenny Humphrey. I could go on and on about Eden and Tyler, but the gist of it is that he treats her like crap, he’s crap, and he pushes her towards his crap friends and they don’t even have a gratifying ending. Remember this is a series y’all so there’s that to consider about the ending, but still.

Wondering why I haven’t mentioned anything about Eden’s father and the rest of his new family? Oh that’s because we see maybe two scenes with them in the entire book and she NEVER has any resolution with her father. She spends the first chapter dramatically going on about how her father was horrible and yet as soon as Tyler is introduced we say goodbye to that plot line. This story is full of plot holes. Let me tell y’all one positive thing about this book, Dean. Dean who is supposed to be the guy you don’t want Eden to get with in the book because you’re pining for Tyler. Well I’m team Dean and I feel bad for Dean because Eden is awful. So before I end up writing a book I’ll just say this- only read this if you’re looking for an easy fun read. IF you like this type of book or you’re looking for a relationship kind of like the one Tyler and Eden should have had I’d check out Paper Princess by Erin Watt. IT’s a five star read and definitely worth your time!
P.S. Let me know if you continued on with this series and it’s actually really good! I’d love to know and hear from you guys!
