Free/Cheap

Hey guys! Wanted to jump on here and help a girl, or guy, out! We love reading, yes? BUT ain’t nobody got time to spend 20 dollars on hardcover books from Barnes & Noble each time! I wanted to share a few helpful tips on how to read for cheap or even FREE, yes free. Thank me in advance..
( Insert girl shrugging her shoulders emoji here ;) ) Some of you might already know how to get discounted books or free ways to read new releases, but not everyone does, so this is for you guys in the back!

SO lets start with a few ways you can read for F-R-E-E!!!!!

1. Go to the library and check out books/audiobooks (Super obvious, that’s why it’s number 1!!)
2. Did you know that most libraries have digital options? Go to your library’s website and there is usually a link for whatever website they use, for example: Neflin, Overdrive, Libby, etc! I feel like so many people are sleeping on this option!! It’s super easy (free) and convenient too! Once you’re set up you can browse all of their ebooks! AND LET ME TELL YOU, there are so many new releases on there, especially YA! Once you find the books you want to read it’s as simple as clicking borrow and you can either send it to your kindle or if you don’t have a kindle it lets you read it on the app!

3. If you’re super lucky and have a bunch of friends that love reading just as much as you and you all have the kindle app, did you know that you can share books with your friends? I did NOT until my sister told me, so I literally binged like all of my sisters kindle books!

4. Bookbub! <----- is that english you may be wondering?! Why yes, yes it is. Bookbub.com is a website that is free that tells you all of the ebook deals currently available. Free and on sale! I check this daily for any freebies! I’ve found some good ones from Penny Reid, J. Daniels, and other popular authors! Also they’ll send you emails with the deals that were added on that specific day!

5. Goodreads! go to your Goodreads page right now and click on the browse button and click giveaways! Thats right, Goodreads does giveaways! I’ve actually won once so there is hope! Also Goodreads does a mini version of Bookbub and will tell you the current deals/freebies!

6. Booktube/Bookstagram/Blogs! Most of you are already probably following some form of bookish social media, but if you aren't then you should be because not only do you get access to giveaways but also when you become part of a community like that you end up seeing what books are free on Amazon and current deals! A lot of my insta friends post daily deals on their IG stories!

Now some ways you can read for cheap! (Say goodbye to 10-20 dollar price tags)

1. Kindle Unlimited... What’s that ? Oh just the best thing ever! For TEN DOLLARS a month you have unlimited access to thousands and thousands of books. All genres. This is how I read mostly all of my romance books because kindle unlimited is overflowing with authors like Mariana Zapata, Kandi Steiner, Penelope Douglas, Mia Sheridan.. You get the point. If you love adult romance, new adult, contemporary, ya romance this is your way to go. NOW I will say if you feel like you won’t read enough books in a month to justify the ten dollars then I wouldn't do it. I’d say it’s worth it if you read 4 or more on there a month. The best thing is you get a free trial so go try it out. RIGHT. NOW.... jk do whatever you want but KU is literally the best thing ever.

2. USED BOOK STORES!!! I’m shouting that from the roof top right now. So many options here! Most local used book stores have some kind of trade/credit option so not only is it a great way to get rid of your old books but you’re getting money or credit for them! Also the price range is pretty awesome too, and you can find some real gems in there. A lot of indie/self published books find their ways into used book stores!

3. The library book store/ library book sales. Most libraries either have a book store or at least a section of books for sale. Someone in my town is donating all of these pristine New Adult/ Adult romances and I literally hit the jackpot every time I go. (shout out to my local town hero) If you love romance you know that some of those books can have a hefty price tag, even just for the paperback version *cough Mariana Zapata cough*. Also most libraries will have huge sales every now and then to clear out some of their stock and man those prices can be as low as 25 cents, so keep an eye out for signs and posts !

4. Websites! Welcome to the beauty of online book retailers who sell books at discounted prices! The most popular one is probably Book Outlet. I’ve used book outlet dozens of times, most of my YA books come from there, but let me tell you they have had some pretty awesome romance books on there lately. Anyways Book Outlet is one of the best places to buy books online, they have a really cheap price tag and they ALWAYS come in excellent condition! Another really good website is Thriftbooks. What I love about thrift books is that it has a reward system and after so many points you get a free book! You can choose what kind of condition you want the book to be in so just beware you get what you pay for. If you see a book that has a copy that's in really great, great, okay, used... CHOOSE WISELY. I chose the lowest option once and I legit got what I paid for... not the best. So after that I started buying the best option I could which honestly isn’t that expensive and I haven't had any problems!

5. Goodwill/ Thrift stores. These places have books too, not just super cute trendy clothes! And honestly this is one of the cheapest places you’re going to find books. Some used book stores still charge like 5 bucks for a book which yes is way better then Barnes and Noble, but still. Goodwill be shaking things up with those 50 cent/dollar prices!

6. Last but not least, check the Bargain section at your chain bookstores. (This is another obvious one) Also check online because sometimes they have books on sale there that they don’t have in store. I know Barnes and Noble also has a membership program which I think is 25 for the whole year and you get a percentage off and special coupons so you’re saving some money, because let’s be honest if you’re pumped about a new release coming up and you can’t find it at any of the above places mentioned sometimes your left with no other option but to buy it brand new. NOW with the B&N discount you can buy it online and get amazon prices and if you have a coupon on top of that you’re getting it cheaper then Amazon!

* Quick honorable mention! Amazon is already a super cheap places for physical copies of books but they also have used options that you can browse through. Sometimes though with the shipping they tack on you’d be better off buying the prime version, but still sometimes you can find a good deal!

Like I said at the beginning of the post some of you probably already knew about these places but if I even helped one person become aware of these options and ways to save money then I’m happy! Also if you know any other ways then the ones I mentioned feel feel to comment and share your wisdom!
