Thoughtless

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

So. So... Man I really wanted to like this book. It had everything going for it, I picked it up at the right time, I wanted a fluffy romance like this, and I needed a rockstar romance book for the Romanceopoly challenge. Now I didn’t DNF this right away, I actually got pretty far into it. But as the days went on and the more I read the more I kept leaning towards quitting. There were just to many problematic things in this book that weren’t done in the right way, and I hated the main female character sooooo there’s that. This book has been around for a bit, kind of an OG New Adult! Before I give you the summary for this book I wanted to let you know that it has a 4.11 star rating on goodreads.....

For two years Keira has had the perfect boyfriend who gives her everything she ever wanted. For Keira he’s the one, and as they head off to a new city to start their new lives together, everything seems perfect. Then enters Kellan Kyle.
Feeling lonely and confused, and in need of comfort Kiera turns to her roommate, her boyfriends childhood friend and the local rock star Kellan Kyle. At first he’s the friend she can lean on but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes..

Okay, so the beginning of this book was how I expected it to be for a NA book written in 2011; cheesy with an extra side of fluff. I was completely fine with it too, and was ready to meet the bad guy rockstar hottie.... Well first of all he is about as bad as a lady bug... Actually did you know that lady bugs can bite ? Anyways, I was not digging Kellan... he was just to......nice? And Kiera I was already having to force myself to like which happens a lot with older romance books, most of the female characters are just so daft and fluffy, but I can overlook that if the romance is good. This book had it’s “good” parts. I kind of knew where it was heading and the author did an awesome job with building the relationship between Kellan and Keira AT FIRST. Spoilerish warning* If you read the summary it’s not really a spoiler but there is cheating in this book, and I knew it was going to happen and yet when it still did I was just not feeling it. My number one argument with books like these is always why didn’t you just break up with your boyfriend??????!
What I did not like about Keira is that she loved both guys and wanted the best of both worlds. There was this one scene where she had already cheated on her boyfriend and yet when she has sex with her boyfriend she's all like well I just really love him and I don’t want to lose him. AND GIRL IF SHE DIDN’T HAVE ME FEELING SORRY FOR HER SIDE PEICE!!!!! Honestly both of those guys deserved better then her.. just saying. So what finally pushed me over the edge and made me DNF it was the fact that she continued to play that game with the guys and pretty much cheat on both of them. I kept waiting for her to break up with her boyfriend but she didn’t sooooo? Maybe she does eventually but I was already like 200 pages in and it was going nowhere. Literally it was like Kiera woke up every morning and was like, “Hmmm who should I love today?” FYI this is a long ass book, 530 pages, and it’s part of a series. Every time I read a book like this I think to myself how differently would I have felt if I read it back in 2011? I probably would have devoured it and gave it five stars. So sadly this book was not for me and it's going to find a nice new home at my local library!

If you want a book similar to this and you’ve also read this book and didn’t enjoy it then you should check out the Beautiful Hearts Duet by Emma Scott. So beautifully written and executed!
