The Flatshare

The Flatshare

by Beth O’leary
4/5

“Tea?”

“Did you make it?”

“No, I got the house elf to do it.”

I smile at that.

Finally finished The Flatshare!! I know, I know...I’m late to the party.....
So if you somehow didn’t see this book all over social media, let me just say every romance lover out there is raving about it! It was complete awful crap.... just kidding! It definitely lives up to the hype. I think though I went in to this book with SUCH high expectations that I was expecting an easy five star read, and although I enjoyed it it felt more like four stars. Which is still good!!! Definitely going on my bookshelf and not in the donate bin! If you love a good adult contemporary romance then this is the book for you!

Tiffy and Leon share a flat
Tiffy and Leon share a bed
Tiffy and Leon have never met…
Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.
But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…

Look up the word cute in the dictionary and chances are there is a picture of this book. It’s just one of those books that will have you saying “awe”. It’s adorable and funny, and just super super sweet! The first half of this book did go a little slowly for me and it took me a bit to get used to the way Leon’s chapters were written. I kept wondering if maybe it was just an error or something, but the author is British and I feel like it definitely comes out in her writing, but other then that the writing was fine! The two communicate through post it notes and it’s so interesting and fun seeing them get to know each other through the notes! Leon and Tiffy literally get away with not seeing each other for months, and when they finally do meet....MAN. It’s hilarious and steamy! (Just an fyi real quick, this book is a contemporary so no sexual scenes. I mean it’s definitely implied but it’s safe for people who would rather not have those particular scenes in their books! Just a sweet old romance!)
Leon is definitely one of the more emotional male characters I’ve read about in a while, and you know what? It was SO refreshing! Seeing him work as a nurse too just added to his personality, and I really loved seeing him interact with his patients and tell them about Tiffy! Especially sweet little Holly! Be prepared to love ALL of the characters in this book! Besides jerk Justin and creepy Martin everyone is wonderful. Tiffy is one of the best though! She is an editor for DIY books, and if you can just imagine how you think she looks you’ve probably got the right image. She really reminds me of a modern day Luna Lovegood! (maybe less spacey?) She’s just so creative and out there and the perfect match for the quiet sentimental Leon! Like I said you’ll fall in love with all the characters in this book! Gertty and Mo -the supporting best friends of Tiffy, Leon’s patients -Holly and Mr.Prior, all the Johnny White’s (especially the sixth), Richie- Leon’s brother, Katherine the eccentric and loving author of a DIY crochet book, and Rachel the best coworker Tiffy and anyone else could ask for! Seriously I need a best friend like Rachel in my life! This book is so wonderful and really so much of the good outweighed the slight problems I had with the book. I really wouldn’t even call them problems!
For one the beginning was just a tad slow, and like I said the writing took me a second to warm up to and I did feel like the Justin bit was a bit too involved and dragged on. I get that it was an important part of the story and Tiffy’s growth, but I still felt like I don’t know... It just was a little to long and to much for me! Still though the amazing parts made up for those few things, and you’ll be laughing out loud and having fun with Tiffy in no time! Definitely pick this book up if you want an enjoyable, sexy, and addicting read!
