Book Boyfriends

Boooook Boyfriends! What makes a character worthy of that title to you? Do they need to be swoon worthy? Definitely! I used to have a specific type of male character that I'd consider on the level of "book boyfriend", and I mean I still do, but it’s evolved... a bit! I’m more open to characters and I don’t just want the Rhysand’s and Jace Heronadales of the book world! I like me a nice guy, ok? A NIC- okay I totally still love a bad boy. I wasn’t lying though when I said I’m more open to different personalities with my “ultimate” book boyfriends. The list I made for you guys still has the “bad boy” type, but not really....? If that makes sense! I now lean more towards the sarcastic, funny, swoony type of hero!
Guys this list was really hard to put together!! I had to limit myself to ONE Mariana Zapata character. I really didn’t think you guys would have wanted four out of the five to be from her books so I calmed down and choose my favorite!
Anyways this is a list of my top book boyfriends (as of right now of course, because I’m also really loving Mad Rogan but still need more time with him...) and hope you guys share some of these crushes and as always let me know who your favorite book boyfriends are, I’d love to know!

1. Ivan Lukov

Ivan FREAKING Lukov is everything I want in a male character. Sarcastic? Definitely. Cocky? Absolutely. Gorgeous? 100%. An athlete? *currently drooling* <----- good enough response? From the moment I read From Lukov with Love I knew that Ivan was my new favorite hero of all time. He is exactly what I like! Not only did he and Jasmine have me swooning, but I was also dying with laughter the whole time! I’m a sucker for funny guys, but when those funny guys become serious and caring I absolutely dissolve into a puddle. I really love ALL of MZ’s male character’s and it was a close tie between Ivan and Kulti, but ultimately I had to go with my boy Ivan. I mean the guy rescues animals and lives on this giant farm with them? Ok. OK. Can it even get better then that? IT COULD... From the moment he called Jasmine meatball I knew I was in love! *sigh*
I can not stress this enough, If you haven’t read the hate to love ice skating slow burn romance From Lukov With Love you NEED to!!!! It is worth it alone for the one liners from Ivan. GUYS hop on the Lukov train and read this dang book!

2. Josh Templeman

No surprise here because The Hating Game is my second favorite book ever, and part of that is because of Josh Templeman. I just want to take a quick second and thank Sally Thorne for the BEAUTIFUL creation of Josh. THANK YOU MS.THORNE!!! If you didn’t know this book is being made into a movie and the casting is on freaking point! Lucy Hale will be playing Lucy Hutton and Robbie Amell will be playing Josh Templeman. Sally Thorne has an instagram for The Hating Game movie so you should definitely go check that out and see for yourself how awesome the casting is!
Anyways Josh is literal perfection, and he’s pretty similar to Ivan Lukov. He’s got the sarcastic witty humor that I LOVE, and he’s definitely *not* in love with Lucy. They hate each other of course! The way that Josh’s character unfolds is brilliant and I fell in love with him SO quickly. He’s hilarious and knows how to push each and every one of Lucy’s buttons! BUT, he’s also sweet and does so many romantic things that you don’t realize until later on in the book, and if you ever reread this book you realize just how much Josh loved Lucy from the very beginning. So Josh is definitely worthy of the title book boyfriend in my opinion, and he’s definitely one that will be hard to beat! If you haven’t read The Hating Game my only question for you is: do you live under a rock?

3. Khai Diep

Sweet, sweet Khai. Khai is definitely the nicest guy on this list... which says something because although Khai is sweet and kind to the people he loves, he’s also the type of guy who will let his yard overgrow just to piss off the little old lady next door. If you didn’t know Khai is autistic, however in no way does this define him. In some ways it made him who he was and I loved that! I also loved how Esme didn’t even see this as an issue and she really had no idea and just treated Khai normally. She even says, “He’s odd, just like me.” The author does an amazing job representing autism! Also Khai’s character ? WELL let me just say I SWOONED! Some of the things he does and says probably aren’t meant to be funny, but I was laughing out loud!
Khai is forced to let Esme (much to his dismay, his future bride that his mother brought from Vietnam) to live with him, and hilarity ensues!!! Like I said though we get to see just how wonderful and sweet Khai is, and the way he falls in love with Esme is just so complete and adoring, even though he swears he has NO feelings and can’t love. Khai was hands down the best part of this book. He was incredibly sexy, and seeing him learn how to please Esme... Well let’s just say DAMN. Helen Hoang created an ultimate book boyfriend with Khai and he definitely deserves this number three spot. If you haven’t read The Bride Test you should, Helen Hoang is an amazing writer!!

4. Jericho Barrons

Need a dangerously sexy and mysterious man in your life? GO READ THE FEVER SERIES! It really can’t get any better than Barrons! Not only is this a PNR, it’s also a slowwwww burn! I love the dynamic of the relationship and the connection they create over the length of the series! Back to what really matters though, Jericho Barrons. Uhhh he was commanding and confident, and yet SO caring when it came to Mac! Barron’s holds a lot of himself back throughout the book and it'ss forever before we get answers,  I mean he’s definitely a mystery if I ever seen one! He’s snarky and I just LOVE that he calls Mac Ms. Lane! It just makes her name feel intimate when he does say it! The first time we see him call her Mac is at the end of the first book when she’s in danger and it just shows you that he isn’t as unaffected by feelings as you thought he was! He’s addicting, dark, and broody and also he owns a bookstore soo...... YUH. If you love slow burns and PNR go check out Jericho Barrons and the Fever series!

5. Thomas Cresswell

Last but not least the sweet and adorable Thomas Cresswell... well sweet may not be the “best” word for our sarcastic witty hero, but you quickly realize there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the one and only Miss Wadsworth! Now Thomas Cresswell is the only YA character on this list, but I’m pretty sure he’s like 18 and the entire series doesn’t even read like YA! I wouldn’t care though if he is because I love him! I mean LUUUUURVE him! He has the BEST comebacks and not a scene with him in it is dull! He has no idea how to handle someone like Audrey Rose and seeing both of them navigate this new partnership is hilarious! The best part though is seeing him and Audrey Rose solve murders together! They start slowly falling in love all while giving us the BEST witty banter that I've seen in a while! I am so addicted to this series (and Thomas of course) and I can’t wait for the last book in this series to come out!

After looking at this list it’s pretty obvious what my type of book boyfriend is! I love the confident yet funny and sarcastic characters that you just KNOW are going to break your heart and make you fall in love! I love seeing them paired up with strong female mc’s because really with this type of character you HAVE to have a strong and independent girl who can put up with their crap, and really the end result is just so amazing for us readers! Obviously I have WAY more book boyfriends then this, but these are like my ULTIMATE FAVES right now! I hope you guys found some new fav book Bf’s and enjoyed my 1000+ word post of gushy love for these guys! xo
