An Offer From a Gentleman
by Julia Quinn
5/5
“In her heart she longed for this man,
dreamed of a life that could never be.”
It’s official guys, this is my favorite Bridgerton book! I swear this time...ok I’m lying. I’ll probably pick up Colin’s book and change my mind, but Benedict’s book was so addicting! A Cinderella retelling? Sign me up! Sophie and Benedict are one of my favorite historical romance couples so far and I legit read this book in like four hours ! So if that doesn’t say anything I don’t know what will! This is also the first Bridgerton book that I’ve given a five stars to! I’m sure you’re already hooked at this point, I know I was as soon as I heard it was a Cinderella retelling! If you read just one Bridgerton book let it be this one! I feel like these books are like chips though, you can’t just read one!
Will she accept his offer before the clock strikes midnight?
Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball—or that "Prince Charming" would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other—except, perhaps this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid's garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. Yet, if he offers his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy tale love?
Lucky freaking Sophie man! Benedict is just as swoon worthy as his brothers and even devilish, but in a quieter and more assured way. He's the type that only let’s certain people in.

The first time our main couple meets is during a ball that Sophie sneaks into. They literally lock gazes across the ballroom and it’s done after that. They’re both captivated, and the scene on the balcony was SO intense! Like I fell in love with Benedict right then and there! Of course Sophie has to dash off at midnight and all our prince charming is left with is a glove.
When Benedict and Sophie “meet” again it’s three years later and Sophie no longer lives with her horrible stepmother. I loved that Benedict didn’t automatically recognize her and we get to see him fall in love with Sophie even though he still holds a place for the mystery woman from the masquerade ball. I was feeling ALL the feels during this book.

Even though they love each other Benedict still has reservations and certain images he has to uphold to, but I also love that in the end it doesn’t matter to him and he accepts Sophie for who she is! Julia Quinn does an excellent job creating just the right amount of tension! She also does an amazing job bringing our main characters together in a way that makes everything tie up nicely! I was captivated form page one until the very end! Benedict and Sophie have just a playful and natural relationship, and I was rooting for them since the very beginning! I also REALLY loved the epilogue and how playful Benedict and Sophie STILL are years later! Just overall a five star read that is hilarious, swoon worthy and captivating! And now on to the next one!
